Category: Athlete's Foot
Athlete’s foot is a common fungal infection of the skin, medically known as tinea pedis, that typically affects the areas between the toes and the soles of the feet. It is caused by dermatophyte fungi that thrive in warm, moist environments such as locker rooms, public showers, and tight footwear. Symptoms often include itching, burning, redness, peeling, cracking skin, and sometimes blisters or scaling. The infection can spread to other parts of the foot or body if left untreated and may lead to secondary bacterial infections in severe cases. Treatment usually involves antifungal creams, powders, or oral medications, along with keeping the feet clean, dry, and well-ventilated to prevent recurrence.
