Category: Mole Growth
Mole growth refers to changes in the size, shape, color, or texture of a mole (melanocytic nevus) over time. While many moles remain stable and benign, noticeable enlargement or alteration—especially in adulthood—can be significant. Concerning features may include asymmetry, irregular or blurred borders, uneven coloration, rapid increase in size, itching, bleeding, or crusting. Some mole growth is normal during childhood and adolescence, but new or evolving moles in adults warrant careful observation. Because changes in a mole can be an early sign of melanoma, any persistent or unusual transformation should be evaluated by a healthcare professional for proper assessment.
