An ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled sac that develops on or within an ovary, often forming as part of the normal menstrual cycle. Many ovarian cysts are functional and benign, resolving on their own without causing symptoms. However, larger or persistent cysts may lead to pelvic pain, bloating, pressure, irregular menstrual cycles, or discomfort during intercourse.
