Category: Warts
Warts are small, typically rough growths on the skin caused by infection with human papillomavirus (HPV). They can appear anywhere on the body but are most common on the hands, fingers, feet (plantar warts), and genital area. Warts may be raised or flat, singular or clustered, and can vary in color from flesh-toned to dark brown. While usually harmless, they can cause discomfort, itching, or cosmetic concerns and are contagious, spreading through direct contact with an infected person or contaminated surfaces. The appearance and persistence of warts depend on the HPV strain involved and the body’s immune response.
